The AI says it fixed it, but my app is still broken
Updated
When the AI says "Fixed!" but the live app is still broken, the change was usually checked where the AI can reach, the preview, not your live app. The standard way out: give the AI the exact error from the live app, publish, check the live address as a new user, and if things got worse, restore the last working version.
In our checks of 44 live AI-built apps, 37 (84%) had at least one problem a first customer would hit.
What we add from real checks: every one of those problems was found on the published app, with its real address, real sign-up email, real payment settings and real phones, the things a preview does not have. Half of the apps (22 of 44) had one that stops a customer cold, such as a sign-up that fails.
Why it happens
"Fixed" from a builder usually means "I changed code", not "I watched the live app work".
Possible causes
- The AI is grading its own work: the tool that made the change is the one saying it worked.
- It can only check what it can reach, usually the preview or a test copy, which has a different address, different keys and no real email.
- It is guessing at a symptom: "the button does nothing" has many possible causes, and without the real error each guess changes code.
- A change to shared code broke a page you never mentioned.
- The problem is a setting, not code (an email sender, a sign-in address, a payment key, a database rule), so no code change can fix it.
How to fix it
- Get the real error first. On the live address, in a private window, repeat what fails with the browser console open (in Chrome: right-click, Inspect, Console). Copy the first red error, and the failing request from the Network tab if there is one.
- Give the AI the exact error, the page address and what you clicked. Ask it to explain the cause before it changes code, and to change only what that error needs.
- Publish, then check the live address in a private window as a new user: not the preview, and not your signed-in account.
- If a fix made things worse, stop stacking fixes. Restore the last working version: Lovable's docs say you can open the project's version history to browse and restore earlier versions, and Replit documents checkpoints you can roll back to.
- If the cause is a setting, change the setting. See confirmation emails not arriving, Google sign-in fails on the live site, Stripe checkout not working live and data won't save.
How to tell it's fixed
- In a private window, on the live address, do exactly what failed, as a brand-new user.
- It works on a phone and on a computer.
- The pages you did not mention still work: open the main ones once.
- The console shows no new red errors.
The main catch
The AI grading its own change is not a check. A "Fixed!" message, or the preview working, says nothing about what a new customer gets on the live address.
You can't see it yourself
You're signed in, your customers aren't. Inside the builder everything looks fixed. Your customers use the published app, signed out, with real email and real phones.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the AI keep saying it's fixed when it isn't?
It reports what it changed, and checks only what it can reach, usually the preview. It does not see your live app as a signed-out new customer.
Should I keep asking the AI to try again?
Not without new information. Each guess changes code. Give it the exact error from the live app, or restore the last working version first.
How do I undo a bad fix?
Restore an earlier version from your builder's history. Lovable's docs describe restoring earlier versions from version history, and Replit's describe rolling back to a checkpoint.
Does the free check fix my app?
No. It shows what a new person hits on your live app, with a screenshot. It never changes your app.

Fixed it? Prove a real stranger gets in
A fix that works from your own account proves nothing about a new customer. Your AI reads your code. VibeFix signs up like a stranger.
Free check. Paste your live app's link: an AI agent signs up to your live app once as a brand-new person ("VibeFix Test") with a real inbox of its own, on a phone and on a computer, and shows how many problems a new user still hits, what each one is, and one screenshot. No account needed. It never changes your app and never emails your users.
Want it fixed?
Our AI agent finds the cause, fixes it in your code and re-checks your live app. $79 for one bug, paid up front. If we can't complete your re-check, you get your money back.
It starts with a free check that confirms the problem on your live app, no account needed.
